Head Lice Treatment

Head LouseThere are many different ways to treat your hair to get rid of head lice today. Nobody likes finding out that they have head lice, and as a parent myself, I know how annoying it is to get the news that your child has it. Children have it tough these days, with classes increasing in size each and every year, there’s bound to be a head lice problem with somebody in the class. Even if only one person has lice, this can quickly spread around the class in only a couple of days and before you know it, your child has them. Many of us believe that head lice jump from place to place, and that’s how they spread from one to another. But this isn’t actually the case, head lice can only crawl, not jump. This is the reason why children tend to have more of a problem than adults, since they usually are a lot closer to one another. The lice only live for a month or so, so if you treat it fast, before they get a chance to lay more eggs, you will be able to get rid of them without too much hassle. Here’s some things that you can do to treat head lice :

1. Bedding etc – Firstly, you should clean all materials that the person uses a lot, such as their bed. It’s a good idea to wash the bedding cloths and so on as there’s a high chance that there may be some head lice there or even some of their eggs which only take a few days to hatch. There’s no point getting rid of all lice from the persons head if they have to sleep in a bed that is covered in them, as you’ll just end up back the way that you were.

2. Natural Treatments – Before there was any treatments full of chemicals, people used natural treatments that most of the time were already around the house such as mayonnaise or vaseline. The reason for these type of products to be used were that it may drown the lice. Then the following day the person could just comb all of them out. However, this doesn’t work straight away, it’ll take a week or two before you can notice any substantial differences.

3. Chemical Treatments – I’d recommend chemical treatments to anyone that is suffering from head lice and wants to treat it as soon as possible. There’s not much work involved really, you don’t need a prescription or anything. Just go to your local chemist and buy whatever they would recommend, go home, leave the chemicals in your hair for a while and then comb the head lice out. It’s well worth spending the little bit of extra money on chemical treatments rather than natural treatments in my opinion. There’s loads of products to choose from in chemists now, so the choice is really yours!
